Today we learned about the Natives of the North Pacific Coast, and for our craft we made Paper Towel Roll Totem Poles. each child was so proud of his or her totem pole, and that it represented them! They all needed help at various times, but we just quietly worked away, and it made for a lovely morning.

Native Headband, Belt and Tumpline Craft
In this lesson we learned about the Natives of the Subarctic, and how they used a tumpline to transport their belongings over distances. While this craft is supposed to be a tumpline, it really turned out to be a headband for some of the children, and a belt for others.
Mini Basket Weaving
The next stop on our exploration of Canada's Natives Long Ago is the Natives of the Plateau. Today we're going to do some mini basket weaving! This is a hugely accessible craft. Great for all ages!
