I have included some links to products from Amazon that we used to decorate our daughter’s room. If you buy any of these items through my links I’ll get a bit of money- but it won’t cost you anything extra. If you chose to buy anything from these links: “Thank you!”
Haven’t you always wanted a princess room!? Well, maybe not now, but maybe you did when you were little. I know I did. When I was little my Dad built me a new room in the basement and my Mum painted it pink and decorated it with flowers. I even had a pink headboard. I loved it!
Well, last winter we redecorated my son’s room. My daughter (then 2-years-old) decided she wanted her room redecorated for her birthday, which was coming up. But I don’t love painting rooms, so I needed a bit of time in between projects! So, for her birthday this year we redecorated it. She loves princesses – mostly dressing up as one, and wearing her fancy high heals – so I knew she’d want her room to look like a princess’ room. Her favourite colour is pink, so that had to factor in heavily BUT I knew I didn’t want pink walls. So we decided on gray, with white, black and pink accents.

This is what the room looked like before, except instead of a crib it there was a dresser. We arranged it like this before our youngest daughter was born. It was a visual cacophony of animals and planes and really no theme at all. Now that this room belonged to two little princesses we needed to update the decor. So now (Da Da Daaaaa)…

There was nothing I was going to do about the carpet!
The really good news about this room redo is that, since we did it as a birthday present, we got lots of people to contribute money or to give room items as gifts. The netting, chandelier, one set of bedding and the curtains were all gifts (and I picked out most of it). The decals and princess portraits I made, but someone else gave me the funds for them. And we had some things that we saved for her new room, like the stars on the ceiling and the butterflies. I’ll take you on a quick picture tour of the room!

We took this opportunity to take our two-year-old daughter out of her crib and into a big girl bed. We decided, at my mum’s suggestion, to take apart the bunk beds and put the beds side-by-side. I don’t like the kids playing in their rooms, and we try not to have toys on the main floor, so we don’t need the extra floor space in the bedroom. Also, instead of having a decorative pillow and a sleeping-on pillow we just used the decorative pillow case on the sleeping pillow. I figured that the decorative pillow would never be put back on the bed without constant reminding. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Here are the Vintage Princess Portraits that we made in a post a couple of weeks ago, all hung up on the wall! Don’t they look awesome? Click on this link to get the tutorial. The “faith trust and pixie dust” picture is just a framed birthday card that I loved. My daughter was given it a couple years ago. The table covering is the wrap from my wedding dress. The girls really loved that they got a part of my gown for their room!

This is the huge decal I made. I’ve never made a wall decal so big before! It’s
four feet wide, and it did a great job of filling the wall. The black vinyl is sparkly (you can’t really tell in the picture 🤷♀️) and it went on the wall like a dream. I’m not sure what was up with the pink vinyl, but it took F-O-R-E-V-E-R to put on, and was really finicky. I’d highly recommend the glitter black permanent adhesive vinyl. It is made by VViViD. If you want to purchase it from Amazon you can click on this <a href="http://VViViD Glitter Black DECO65 Permanent Adhesive Craft Vinyl Roll for Cricut, Silhouette & Cameo (6ft x 1ft)“>link.

The bow is on the door because we did a “Great Reveal” of her room at her birthday party. Her party theme was Under the Sea. If you want to read that post click here. You can see here some more decals and light switch cover I made. The butterflies we got on Amazon. You can find them <a href="http://NYKKOLA White 24PCS 3D Butterfly Wall Stickers Decor Art Decorations 3 Size (1, White)“>here. They are awesome. We bought one package for my son’s room, and then split it in half so we could use them for this room. By the time we put them up all the sticky was off the stickers, so we just put them up with tape. I love these. I think they look so cool coming off the wall like that!

On the tall dresser we have a set of hard-cover children’s books, a jewelry box and another tablecloth. Above it is a picture my sister-in-law made for my daughter’s birthday another year. It says, “She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.” That verse is found in the Bible, Proverbs 31:25. It’s such a beautiful verse, isn’t it?

And here they are on their first night in their beds! Sleeping Beauties!
What do you think? Isn’t it magical to have a special room for these little ones? I love being able to share my love for them and my creativity in ways like this. I hope they can look back on this room and see how I love them. I look back at my bedroom and see my parents’ love and care for me. I love you Mum and Dad! 💖👨👩👧💖
